Soft, smooth, light and creamy… pure chocolate decadence… oh yeah; this frosting is all that.  Creamy Chocolate Fudge Frosting is my Gorgeous Man’s favorite chocolate frosting because not only is it satisfyingly chocolate – this frosting stays softCreamy Chocolate Fudge Frosting is easy to make, too.  Just three ingredients ~ chocolate, butter and agave plus a little water magically transform into a light-as-air Chocolate Icing. 
Creamy Chocolate Fudge Frosting can be made vegan (dairy-free) also. 
I have tried the frosting both ways and each version is equally soft, rich and delicious. You simply must try this frosting with my gluten and dairy free Very Vanilla Cupcakes.  Oh my goodness – this is a match made in “Cupcake Heaven!”

Creamy Chocolate Fudge Frosting
 Gluten and dairy-free, Creamy Chocolate Fudge Frosting is the best, creamiest,  most decadent chocolate frosting ever! 


1 cup butter or Earth Balance Vegan Buttery Sticks, for dairy-free
2 cups (12 oz.) high quality semi-sweet Chocolate Chips or 12 oz. semi-sweet chocolate
1/2 cup hot water
6 tablespoon agave nectar 
1.  In a medium size saucepan melt together the butter, chocolate and hot water; stirring constantly over low heat until melted and smooth.  
2.  Chill the frosting, covered; until it’s set and quite cold.  You can do this a day ahead of time if you wish. 

3.  Place the chocolate mixture in your mixing bowl; add the agave nectar tablespoon by tablespoon beating at medium/low speed.  After all the agave nectar is incorporated increase the mixer speed to medium-high and beat until  the frosting is light and fluffy.   

  Lynn’s Note for Success
  • Creamy Chocolate Fudge Frosting will get lighter in color the longer your beat it in your mixer.  
  • You can store any leftover frosting in a tightly covered container.  Beat it with your mixer until light and creamy.
  • If you want to use just a little bit of your leftover chilled frosting (you simply MUST have just ONE cupcake…) just pop the amount of cold frosting you want in the microwave for about 1-2 seconds, seconds – not minutes!  This frosting melts super fast – stir until creamy then spread on your cupcake.  Whalla!  Instant gratification! 
  • Creamy Chocolate Fudge Frosting is fabulous on Very Vanilla Cupcakes… irresistibly yummy!
