I need to eat something decadent.  Really, really decadent, but it must be easy to make. Something like, oh, Chocolate Sauce that Hardens into a Shell!  To bring you “up-to-speedthese past weeks my Gorgeous Man and I have been eating waaaay too healthy.  In fact, we have gone overboard on vegetables, high vitamin, high fiber food and green drinks.  ENOUGH!  I decided that something had to change in order to create balance in our lives.


Suddenly I knew exactly what was neededMore antioxidants. Well to be exact… what was missing in our diet was ~ Chocolate Sauce that Hardens into a Shell  Yes, this was the answer for a completely healthy, balanced diet.  (Everyone knows that dark chocolate is a powerful antioxidant!)

But, in addition to all the (powerful) health benefits; are you aware that Chocolate Sauce that Hardens Into a Shell is guaranteed to bring you health, wealth and happiness?  It is.  (But if for some reason health, wealth and happiness don‘t automatically fall into you lap… don’t worry You’ll feel so blissful, you won’t care!)

Well, enough talk.  Here’s my super-easy Chocolate Sauce that Hardens into a Shell recipe with only two ingredients:

Chocolate Sauce that Hardens into a Shell

Serves 3
3 oz. high quality semi-sweet chocolate  

  • I use dairy-free chocolate.  I like to mix together semi-sweet chocolate and 70% chocolate.  Be sure that you LOVE the flavor and texture of your chocolate!

2 teaspoons coconut oil

  • NOTE:  If you want your chocolate sauce to have no coconut flavor at all, I recommend using an organic, naturally refined, coconut oil.  Refined coconut oil has the coconut flavor removed. You can find naturally refined, organic coconut oil at your local healthy food market or online. I usually get mine at Whole Foods Market or online at Amazon or Vitacost.

1.  In a small saucepan, melt chocolate and coconut oil together over very low heat just until melted, stirring constantly.  Drizzle over ice cream or sorbet ~ Enjoy!  

  • NOTE:  If you prefer, you can melt the chocolate and coconut oil in your microwave.  Use 50% power and stir every 30 seconds.  Heat and stir until melted. 
Chocolate Sauce that Hardens into a Shell

It’s almost magic how this luscious, dairy and gluten-free chocolate sauce will stay soft when it’s poured over roomtemperature fresh fruit, but will harden into a delicious, crisp chocolate shell on cold ice cream or sorbet! 

I use dairy-free Häagen-Dazs® Chocolate Sorbet, but if you prefer you can use your favorite chocolate ice cream.  Of course raspberry sorbet or coconut ice cream is also wonderful with this chocolate sauce.  Oh, and if you have some fresh berries, like raspberries, blueberries or strawberries, that is a delicious and elegant touch.
